Steam heated domestic water heaters are available in various formats including gasketted plate, brazed plate or shell and tube heat exchangers. Selecting the most appropriate solution requires careful consideration of water quality (hardness), steam operation pressure and condensate removal. Life cycle costs and maintenance requirements also require analysis. Ormandy provide condensate cooling capacity in both plate and shell and tube exchangers.
When heating large quantities of water through 55°C in a single pass the potential for over heating is high. Ormandy have developed accurate temperature control systems utilising pneumatic or electric actuators. All steam control loops are three term (PID) and are coupled with fast response temperature sensors. Independent high limit thermostats are fitted to all Ormandy DHW packages. Steam shut off is achieved via fail-safe control valves or independent high-limit shut off valves depending upon the site requirements.
