Buffer vessels are available for use in chilled water, domestic hot water and thermal storage applications.
- Generally buffer vessels for DHWS systems are of copper construction, although other materials are available upon request. Units are installed in a system to provide additional storage capacity for use when peak demand levels exceed the capability of the hot water generator. Units for DHWS applications can be manufactured to BS853 or to commercial standards.
- Buffer Vessels for use in chilled water closed circuits would generally be manufactured in carbon steel. Units are installed to prevent rapid cycling of the chiller.
- Steel buffer vessels are manufactured to BS853:1996, PD5500 Category 1, 2 or 3, and to Ormandy commercial standards in line with PED/97/23/EC.
- Buffer vessel dimensions are as shown in the calorifier table overleaf, however, units up to 50,000 litres are available.
